The library is the hub of academic student life on campus. The Dr. C.V. Raman University houses a spacious library, stacked with more than 40,000 books, 5,000 titles and thousands of CDs, journals and reports that cover all subjects pertinent to the courses. The CVRU library consists of a Central Library and separate Department Libraries to help students and faculties alike have easy access to course and reference materials through a membership card. Besides a huge collection of books on Engineering, Science and Humanities, the library has a total seating capacity of 600 with an Integrated Information System in place. All its activities including acquisition, cataloguing, circulation and stock verification have been computerized.
The college provides a well-equipped and well-maintained centralized digital library that also has a vast section of national and international journals, magazines, reference materials and publications of renowned academicians. It houses a collection of over 200 video lectures, delivered by IIT faculties on various undergraduate courses. We encourage our students to stay updated on the latest innovations and developments from around the world. Special issues of journals, papers and CDs have been made available at CVRU. The library has a unique Audio-Video section and two Reading Halls.
The Central Library also provides photocopy services to help students retain a copy of books and journals for later references. The library is managed by trained and efficient staffs who personally guide students in selecting the relevant books, promoting a culture of collaborative learning process.
Entry to the library is on production of valid Identity Card/Library Card
Visitors with valid passes are allowed only on weekdays from 9.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m.
Smoking is strictly prohibited within the library premises
Silence must be maintained within the library
The library material includes books, magazines, journals and audio-video equipment which should be handled with utmost
The library reserves the right to search any personal item and does not accept liability for loss or damage to them
All personal belongings must be kept on the provided racks
Students/readers shall not write on or damage books and journals. Before leaving the counter, borrowers must ensure that
the book is in good condition and if not must immediately bring the matter to the notice of the concerned staff
All students are required to replace damaged or lost book by a new copy. In case the book is out of print, the member will
be required to pay the cost of the book with additional charge as determined by the Librarian, subject to a maximum of
100% of the prevailing cost of the book
