ABOUT RURAL TECHNOLOGY
The Department of Rural Technology was established in the year 2018 with an aim to carry out teaching and research activities for overall development of rural area. The indigenous knowledge of the rural people has been utilized by the Department for creation of need-based technologies for sustainable rural development. The other objectives of the course are to present a holistic view of all parameters leading to the rural development with respect to the appropriate technology i.e. socio-economic upliftment through integrated technology. It is expected to benefit those who are young entrepreneurs in more areas aspiring to participate in developmental activities for self employment.

Presently, the Department runs professional and job oriented Master Degree course M.Sc. Rural Technology, Post Graduate Diploma in Rural Development (PGDRD) and Ph.D. program to Rural Technology. The primary motive behind running this course is to facilitate appropriate development of science and need-based technology for rural areas. In the Master degree program and Diploma a dissertation work is compulsory. Students carry out their dissertation work in reputed educational research institutes, GO’s, NGO’s and reputed research institutes.

VISION
The department aims to provide decent, creative students with a rural developer and entrepreneurial mindset ready to provide leadership to both private and public sectors. Not only this, but department also focus to provide quality education to its students which will help in sustainable development of students as well as of the society.

MISSION
 To impart quality education to students for becoming world class rural development professionals so that they will achieve sustainable development and also helps for the betterment of the society.
 To widen the scope of admitting more students in M.Sc. Rural Technology.
 To develop appropriate technology for sustainable rural development.
 To carry out teaching & research activities for overall development of rural and tribal community.
 To develop innovation, design and technique for overall development of rural artisans.
 To develop skill in our students for rural planning and implementation of different rural development projects.

On successfully completing the program the student will be able to:

  The pass out students of the department have opportunity in Government departments/projects, like National Rural Livhlihood Rural Engineering Services, Chhattisgarh Tribal Development Programe, Chhattisgarh Medicinal Plants Board, Forest Department, DRDO, SIRDs, Public Health Engineering, National Rural Livelihood Mission, Zila Panchayats And Reputed Multinational NGO’s. like WHO, UNICEF, UNDP, World Bank, PRADAN, Ajij Prem Ji Foundation, Sadguru Foundation.

The major objectives of the M.Sc. Rural Technology programme are:
  The M.Sc. Rural Technologyprogram at Dr.C.V. Raman University aims to prepare our students from choosing various verticals of Rural Technology&Development. We provide strong foundation for students on core Rural Technology and Development areas.
  Developing a functional as well as holistic view of rural development practices among students.

In addition to the Central Library, Rural Technology Department have their own Library. This contains important titles and Journals in the respective branches of study. Students and Staff are advised to fully utilize these books and Journals for further enhancement of their subject knowledge books and Journals.

Good quality updated journals like Indian Journal of Traditional Knowledge, Journal of Medicinal Plants, Journal of Rural Development, Journal of Rural Studies, Current Science, J. Indian Forestry, Indian J. Agroforestry, etc and quality text books and reference books of reputed publishers such as CAB, Elsivera, etc.

ACTIVITIES

  100% result achieved in the semester exam.

  Dr. Anupam Tiwari, Assistant Professor at S.O.S. Rural Technology was awarded for best poster presentation at Seminar organized by CG-COST and Vigyan Bharti in year 2012.

  Under the guidance and supervision of faculty members of S.O.S., Mushroom cultivation, Lac cultivation, Sericulture, preparation of natural dyes, Bio composting, Making of Handicrafts items, processing of medicinal plants, value addition in natural products were finely performed the students of S.O.S. Students are also involved in various welfare programmes in collaboration with NGOs.

  Dr. Anupam Tiwari, Assistant Professor at S.O.S. Rural Technology, had been the Coordinator of International conference 25-26, September, 2018 and Organizing Secretary Two days Workshop 4- 5 fubery organized by Dr. C.V.Raman University, Kota, Bilaspur C.G.



ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES IN THE DEPARTMENT

  At present courses are being offered at M.Sc. (Rural Tech.) and PGDRD levels. Students are given the best possible support from the Department to pursue their courses as well as research.


OTHER ACTIVITIES

  The Department is actively engaged in investigating the present state of rural conditions in nearby villages by conducting frequent surveys and farm and home visits. For this purpose, on every Semester students of this Department along with the faculty members interact with the nearby villages.
