The Dr. C.V. Raman University encourages students to pursue academic excellence and grow as confident leaders of tomorrow. At CVRU, we believe that a student is happiest when he studies a subject of his liking. It is hence imperative that each one is encouraged to find the ideal course for him and enjoy his subjects through the period of his formal education. The university provides a wide spectrum of student-centric services and programmes, and works closely with them to help grow a rich academic and social environment. Every course is designed keeping in mind the degree of expertise the student needs to attain for a successful future in the field. Our mission is to provide a quality campus life and learning by employing all our resources to help students excel in a multi-cultural and diverse milieu.
We encourage our students to take up various co-curricular activities and arts to build a well-rounded personality. Special Personality Development programmes are incorporated to provide counselling in various aspects of college and academic life.
The academic infrastructure provides a complete set of lecture rooms, tutorial rooms, drawing hall, laboratories, workshops and Faculty & HOD offices. It also includes a Conference Hall capable of accomodating over 300 students with acoustics and Audio–Video facilities. Elegantly designed comfortable furniture in the spacious, ventilated and well-lit classrooms provides the students the comfort needed for a stimulating learning experience. Life at Dr. C.V. Raman University is a congenial experience that not only incorporates deep academic insights and technical knowledge among its pupils but also lays down an acute sense of Indian values and ethos.
The state of Chhattisgarh in central India is like a whiff of fresh air, especially if you happen to arrive here from a concrete jungle. It is a small paradise, situated at the heart of the country, not only known for its exceptional scenic beauty but also for its rich cultural history, dating back to thousands of years. Chhattisgarh has its own unique forms of dances, music, cuisines, tribal festivals and more, offering an enriched environment for cultural and social development. The harmonization of eastern and western art as a result of the British imperialism has added an articulation to the rich ethnicity and culture of Chhattisgarh.
As a part of the student’s academic life, he must not only gain the technical insight for a successful career but also receive the integral values of our traditions, culture and ethos. At CVRU, we help our students to grow as morally responsible citizens of India. The special Cultural Activity Team focuses on this form of non-formal education through a host of co-curricular activities and events.
Cultural Activity Team (CACT)
CACT organizes various cultural events and training throughout the academic year. It primarily consists of the Principal, Heads of Departments, Cultural Activity Committee, CACT Secretaries, student presidents of various clubs and student volunteers.
Objectives of CACT:
To bring out and explore the talents of a student
To provide a platform for budding artists and musicians
To inculcate team sprit and build the overall personality of students
Motivation to students:
CACT motivates students by providing full support (financially and academically) for participation in National and International cultural events
CACT provides the necessary materials, instruments and props to students so as to encourage them to participate in various cultural activities
At CVRU, we advocate our students to participate in a variety of cultural fests and events round the year which helps develop a keen sense of community among students hailing from various parts of the country and state. CVRU provides students the unique opportunity to experience modernity blended with traditions. Students participate in the cultural activities for a wide variety of reasons: for enjoyment, entertainment, for personal growth, as a means of expression and to learn new skills.
Voice of Bilaspur & Voice of CVRU
CVRU encourages its students to explore their talents and organizes a special event named 'Voice of Bilaspur' every year to provide a platform to showcase new talents. This program is in collaboration with 94.3 My F.M.
To further promote cultural activities, the university organizes the Voice of CVRU and it is through this event that we discovered Kshitij Raj Kumar (student), who later reached the Indian Idol.
Dr. C.V. Raman University offers a variety of sports facilities on the campus. Students have a plethora of activities to choose from. World-class facilities for Cricket, Hockey, Football, Kabaddi, Kho Kho, Volleyball, Table Tennis, Basketball and Tennis are made available to the students. The college also houses a Multi-Gymnasium to encourage students to stay fit and healthy. The university employs specially trained and qualified instructors for Yoga and other sports to guide the students on weekends and evenings.
Students with exceptional sporting abilities are motivated to participate in competitions at inter-college tournaments and national levels. We encourage our students to actively take part in all sporting events in the college which are spread out over the academic year. Sports, being an ideal stress reliever, helps students to concentrate with a fresh and open mind.
Sports help inculcate an essence of camaraderie and brotherhood among the students and build on their ability to work and function as a team. At CVRU, we believe that it is through sports that students learn to live in a diverse environment in peace and harmony.

Apart from the regular fittings, the gymnasium is stocked with the latest equipments such as weight benches, smith machines, standard and olympic weights, dumbbells and bars, power racks, multi-gyms, ab wheels and arm, abdo, leverage and leg machines.
Physical Education falls under a wider view of education. It is one of the known and simplest forms of stress relief and helps students to concentrate better on their academic curriculum. It also helps ingrain the spirit of hard work, increases endurance limits and an overall positive and stimulating experience. The gymnasium is supervised by skilled trainers and instructors. At CVRU, we believe that Physical Education forms an integral portion of formal education, however, the wish to continue or participate in such activities is a decision left to the students.
