About CVRU i-TBI

CVRU iTBI is an inclusive Technology Business Incubator (i-TBI) hosted by Dr.C.V. Raman University, Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh; supported by Department of Science & Technology (DST), Government of India under NIDHI i-TBI scheme. CVRU iTBI is dedicated towards fostering innovation and entrepreneurship in Chhattisgarh & central India by providing incubation support to idea stage startups. CVRU i-TBI currently housing dedicated space of 10,000 square feet for the common facilities, FabLab, Prototyping laboratory, meeting rooms, video conferencing facility, computer lab and server room, co-working space with high bandwidth net/WIFI, recreational facilities, etc. as per the guidelines of NIDHI i-TBI.

Incubation Process & Procedures

This incubation policy at CVRU iTBI governs the procedures of the incubation program at CVRU iTBI. The policy is subject to periodical review and amendments. CVRU iTBI reserves the right to make an exception for application of all or any of the terms of policy for a particular company or a promoter on a case-to-case basis.

1. Programs at CVRU iTBI

1.1 Pre-Incubation (Raman LaunchPad)

• For the Idea stage team, with high potential for prototype/technology commercialization. No company incorporated.

• Duration of the program will be 3 month

• One time fee for each cohort of the pre-incubation program; from 3000 to 5000, depending on the high resource sessions organized during the program. 

• Engagement Type: Short Duration 

• Graduated startups from pre-incubation may be added to the incubation program based upon availability.

1.2 Incubation Program (SAARTHI)

• Regular incubation program for startups incorporated. 

• Type of Startup Applicant: Idea Stage/POC stage

• Duration of the program will be 18 month

• Engagement Type: Long duration

• Incubation program will be offered as physical as well virtual

2. Eligibility Criteria for Programs:

For Pre-Incubation (Raman Launchpad)

• Idea stage startup, having not incorporated company

• Student team currently enrolled in UG/PG program in any university/college

• Must have business plan ready

• Preferable if have any national level business plan contest

For Incubation (SAARTHI)

• The Applicant(s) should have incorporated company in India with a minimum 51% of its equity held by Indian citizens (as defined in the Companies Act, 2013, and suggested to have DPIIT Startup India recognition)

• The applicant has to be an Indian citizen with a government approved proof of nationality such as a valid passport, voter’s id etc.

• The applicant should be at least 18 years of age, as on the date of application.

• The startup should not be more than 2 years of existence (counted from date of incorporation)

• The startup should not have secured any grant from a central/state government agency beyond Rs. 10 Lakh

• Sector of Startup should fall in any one of the following:

• Solutions addressing sustainability (Environment, CleanTech, Waste Management, Circular Economy, Rural Development, Agriculture, Clean Water etc.)

• Solutions based out of science and technology 

• Defence Technology

• Food Processing/Nutrition/Biotech

• Healthcare & Biomedical Devices

• IoT Based Technologies 

• Mining, Metal, Materials

• Renewable & affordable Energy

• Robotics & Drones

• Smart Cities

• Smart Textiles

• Smart Vehicles/Electric Vehicle/Electric Vehicle Motor and battery technology

• Startup promoting Art & Cultural heritage of the Chhattisgarh region 

• Startups not falling into the focus area of an incubator as listed above may still be provided incubation support; however for any grant/funding, an incubated startup must be eligible as per guidelines of respective grant/funding scheme.

3. Selection Process:

• CVRU i-TBI shall invite the Call for Application on cohort basis.

• CVRU i-TBI will constitute a Screening and Monitoring committee to select the innovators / start-ups on the basis of certain parameters & alignment with incubator sector focus. 

• Lateral Entry: Apart from the incubation cohort, few startups may also be added in the incubation program. This startup may come from calls for applications for different grants such as ignition grant, nidhi EIR, SSS, CSR fund etc.

Incubation Consideration for Incubated Startups:

**for any funding scheme where guideline, clearly specifying not to take equity/fee in incubated startup, above clause may not be applicable

Summary of Incubator’s Program:
