Program Overview

The courses of M.A two year (Four semester) successfully running. The medium of instruction in the classroom teaching as well as in the examinations is both English and Hindi. The performance of the students has been excellent through these years. In this process the courses organizes several lectures by noted sociologist and eminent academicians in the field. On the occasions various events related to the sociological importance and dates associated with great personalities, the courses organizes seminars and conferences. Apart from these activities the course also takes its students for educational tours to the NGO visit, hospital visit and thus makes them acquaint and closer to the society, know the problems of the society closely or are familiar with its solutions With the motive of all round personality development of the students and to generate community feelings amongst them. Sometimes students go to village visit with the teachers. Teachers and students collaborate with the other institutions in the national level. Personality development of the students and to generate community feelings amongst them, the department also encourages its students towards active and successful participation in extracurricular activities through NSS and NCC.

What will you study

Students will be able to describe and apply the steps of the scientific method develop research hypotheses, gather data, analyze data, and provide an answer to the research question.

Students become familiar with the rural society and multiple types of rural social Institutions Family, Religion, Marriage, Cast, Political system and economic system) and their evaluation over time.

Students can explain the major sociological concepts and theories Associated with the Rural Social Institutions.

Students will be able to identity various rural problems like Rural Poverty, land less labor and Untouchability.

PO1 : Upon completion of Master of Arts Social Work Students should be able to Identify and define basic terms and concepts which are needed for advanced course in Sociology

PO2 : Analyze social behavior and determine the effects on society.

PO3 : Demonstrate an understanding of Rural and Urban. Sociology Students will be familiar with the concept of culture norms and values of rural and urban societies.

PO4 : Independent judgment, intercultural and regional Sensitivity, global and national perspectives to solve problems concerning Humanities.

PO5 : Explain Industrial revolution new mode of production and its effects on society.

PO6 : Develop information, interviewing and networking skills through reading handed out in class and an examination exercise.
